Denpasar: Denpasar police seized about 400 grams of liquid marijuana from Thailand from a foreign national (WNA) of United States nationality who was arrested in Kuta area, Badung, Bali.
Liquid marijuana used by foreigners from the US was shipped from Thailand using an expedition service with camouflage gifts and snacks.
Denpasar police chief Koombs Bambang Yugo Pamungkas said his party got information from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance, while checking goods consigned from abroad.
Bambang said on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, “We were informed of customs and excise duties by Paulresta, then we arrested the person concerned.”
He said that when he was arrested and further investigated, police found a glass bottle containing liquid yellow marijuana weighing 360 grams and six syringes containing liquid marijuana weighing 6.01 grams.
The US citizen, now named a suspect by police, admitted that he had twice sent packages of liquid marijuana from Thailand to Indonesia. He also admitted that he consumed liquid marijuana both alone and with his friends.
Police are currently unable to conclude that the US foreigner is merely a user or dealer.
“We are still investigating while it is still being used alone, and the person concerned has also given it to their friends, but we are still investigating this network further,” Bambang Yugo said. .
Meanwhile, regarding the travel status of a US national in Indonesia, police said he had come up with a tourist spot. The US citizen has also been known to travel back and forth to Bali.
The Denpasar police chief said, “He has been here for more or less 2 years, he has often gone and gone to Indonesia.”
In a separate session, Denpasar Police Narcotics Unit chief, AKP Mirza Gunawan, said his party was still investigating the possibility that the American foreigner had consumed liquid marijuana as a cancer therapy.
The reason is that when he was shown to the journalists at Denpasar Police Headquarters on Wednesday, he said that he had cancer for 5 years.
