United States: Executive order is good news for abortion rights but greater access to healthcare is urgently needed

Responding to the news that President Biden signed an executive order that seeks to protect access to abortion and protect patient privacy, the interim national program director, advocacy and government affairs at Amnesty International USA Tarah Demant said:

“The Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services (HHS) must deliver on its promise to protect abortion services, aggressively pursuing legal action against any and all barriers to abortion access at the state level – including Restrictions include drug abortion and out-of-state travel for abortion care.
