When applying for a visa to the United States, it is possible to advance the interview date to avoid waiting up to a year. However, the US Embassy announced that some applicants will be left without that option when payment receipts for the procedure issued last year expire this week.
In particular, it affects people who had appointments already scheduled last week whose payment receipts for that procedure were issued before October 2022.
The provision can be found on the official processing site of the diplomatic headquarters and also in the emails sent this week as a reminder to the applicants.
The official statement said that all receipts for payment of the visa procedure issued before October 1, 2022 will expire on September 30, 2023.
Therefore, applicants with receipts before the date who have not yet arranged a date for an interview should schedule their appointment or send their request for an interview exemption before the September 30, and must pay the fee again.
“Please note that the interview does not have to take place before September 30, 2023, but an interview appointment must be scheduled in the system, even if it is scheduled months in advance,” the note warns. for people who, for some. reason, they remain without a set date.
The Embassy advises that these individuals should use payment receipts dated before October 1, 2022 to schedule said appointment and that they should not attempt to make appointment changes after October 1, 2023.
“If they do, they will lose their original appointment slot and their MRV fee receipt. The applicant must pay a new fee and submit a new application,” the message concluded.
However, the expiry of receipts this week will have an effect for already scheduled appointments based on payment receipts before October last year.
“If someone has paid before October 2022 and has an appointment for December 2023, they will still attend their appointment without a problem. However, if that person, in his interview in December of this year, discovers an available space in November, he can no longer advance it because his receipt that he paid to advance is no longer valid,” explained Natalia Noguera from the Trámite de Visas Nogeli company.
Priscila Agüero from the company Viaje con Pri, which provides advice on the processing of visas in the United States, also emphasized that those who paid before October 1, 2022, should hurry to schedule an appointment on the platform of Embassy before October 30. September.
“The appointment does not have to be before September 30, it can be next year, but the system will recognize the payment if you schedule your appointment before September 30. Of course, it does not allow advance appointments for those who paid before October 1, 2022,” he said.
The two merchants agreed to advise against advance appointments with those who have payments before last October, so if there are available fields, they suggest first verifying the dates of bank deposits.
