United States visa hikes: Cost, Requirements and Process

In a few days the cost of obtaining or renewing a United States visa will increase. The State Department posted the increase in the Federal Register on March 28, which will take effect May 30.

How much does it cost to get a visa?

  • visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/2 ​​and BCC categories), student and exchange visas; Will move from $160 to $185.
  • Non-immigrant visa for temporary jobs (Category H, I, O, P, Q and R) will be increased from US$ 190 to US$ 205.
  • Visas for a trader, investor or treaty applicant in a specialty business (Category E) will increase from US$205 to US$315.

The most-used categories B1 and B2 in Argentina, which serve both tourism and business, will see an increase of just $25.

  • Complete Form DS-160.
  • With the requested data, create an account on the US Embassy page.
  • Indicate the confirmation number of the form.
  • Enter an address to receive the document.
  • Pay the cost of the visa.

  • Argentine passport.
  • Completed DS-160 form.
  • Previous passport with United States of America life.
  • Two current photographs (4×4).

  • Student Interview Waiver (F, M, J): 36 days.
  • Petition-Based Temporary Employee Interview Waiver (H, L, O, P, Q): 36 days.
  • Waiver Crew and Transit Interview (C, D, C1/D): 36 days.
  • Interview Exemption Visitors (B1/B2): 36 days.
  • Interviews with essential visitors (B1/B2): 308 days.
