Updated WhatsApp emoji reactions! Not just 6, react with many more now

WhatsApp has finally brought more emojis to react to messages in a group or individual chat.

WhatsApp has finally released a new group of emojis to react to messages in an individual or group chat. The new feature is an expansion of the WhatsApp reactions that were introduced a few weeks ago. Now WhatsApp users can react to a message with any emoji and skin tone. The new development was announced by Mark Zukerberg of Meta via a Facebook post. He shared, “We are rolling out the ability to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp.”

To use more emojis, WhatsApp users need to have an updated version of the app and that is exactly what they should do now. The feature is rolling out to everyone. WhatsApp users can find more emoji reactions by simply reacting to a message. They will see a plus icon placed in the reaction tray that will unlock more emojis at the bottom when clicked. Previously, WhatsApp users only received six emoji reactions to a message – including ‘surprise’, ‘laughing’, ‘sad’, ‘cry’, ‘red heart’ and ‘pray’. However, now with new emojis being released, users can even search for a more relevant emoji instead of just five existing options by typing in a dedicated search bar. In addition, WhatsApp also allows users to adjust the skin tone of the emoji. If you haven’t received the new emoji reactions on your WhatsApp yet, don’t worry, they will be coming soon. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is working on another major update that would allow users to sync their chat history across multiple devices. The feature dubbed ‘companion mode’ will allow users to link a secondary mobile device to their WhatsApp account. As of now, the multi-device support feature is limited to desktop/laptop or tablets. Users cannot operate a WhatsApp account on two mobile phones at the same time. However, if this feature is implemented, it will also be available on mobile phones. The feature is currently in development and the exact release details of the feature are kept under wraps for now.
