The US Military Command Center (Centcom) said on Wednesday that US attack helicopters struck targets used by Iranian-backed armed groups to launch rockets at US military bases in Syria.

“The US military today responded to rocket attacks on two sites in Syria, destroying three vehicles and equipment used to launch the rockets,” said a statement from Centcom, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East. Gave.”

The attacks began at 7:20 p.m. (local time), CentCom reported. Several rockets landed within the confines of the Conoco Mission Support Site in northeastern Syria. After that, other projectiles hit the area around the Green Village mission support site.

A member of the US military in Conoco was wounded and treated for minor injuries, then “returned to duty.” Two other persons are being evaluated for minor injuries.

“We are monitoring the situation closely,” said CentCom’s commander, General Michael Kurilla. “We have the full spectrum of capabilities to mitigate threats in the region and we have full confidence in our ability to protect our troops and our allies from attack,” he said.

“The response was proportionate and deliberate. The United States does not seek conflict with Iran, but we will continue to take the necessary measures to protect and defend our people,” reads the statement from the military command.
