ISLAMABAD: US Special Representative on Trade and Commercial Affairs Dilawar Syed met Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Islamabad.
According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, Bilawal acknowledged the role of Dilawar Syed in improving trade links between the two countries.
The External Affairs Minister emphasized the importance of the visits to deepen and expand ties, especially in trade and commercial ties.
Special Representative Dilawar Syed thanked the External Affairs Minister for the meeting and expressed satisfaction over the constructive activities during his visit.
Dilawar Syed is a Pakistani-American businessman, entrepreneur and government official. He is Biden’s nominee for President to serve as deputy administrator of the Small Business Administration.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto had invited Sheila Jackson Lee, chairperson of the IUS Congressional Pakistan Caucus, to visit Pakistan.
Addressing via video link, Bilawal said that Pakistani diaspora in the United States plays an important role in strengthening the ties between the two countries.
Speaking at the event, US Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee said that she would write a letter to the International Monetary Fund to improve the country’s economic condition.
Pakistani envoy to the US Masood Khan, Democrat leaders Tahir Javed, Asif Riaz Qadir and others also attended the meeting.
During his last visit to Washington, Secretary of State Bilawal Bhutto met US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to try to mend the broken ties between the two countries. He also participated in a ministerial meeting and debate on food security at the United Nations Security Council.
Bilawal and Blinken vowed to improve ties between Pakistan and the US and strengthen bilateral ties. The US Secretary of State said that the US wants to stabilize economic and trade ties with Pakistan. Bilawal stressed the importance of multilateralism and the United Nations in Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Blinken thanked the Foreign Minister of Pakistan for participating in the food security debate at the United Nations. Bilawal assured that maximum assistance would be provided to American investors in Pakistan.
