Santo Domingo, July 22 (Prensa Latina) After two weeks of competitions, the XXX Santo Domingo 2022 Junior Pan American Badminton Championships concluded in the Dominican capital today, held at the Parque del Este Table Tennis Pavilion.
Representatives from Canada and the United States won medals from tournaments played in the Sub13, Sub15, Sub17, Sub19 and Team categories.
The Americans had 11 gold medals while the Canadians had nine during the singles tournament.
In the U19 category, Canada’s Josh Nguyen won the gold medal beating his compatriot Victor Lai (21–13, 21–13), who was the wide favorite in the category, while Jackie Dent (21–14,) in the Canadian duel. 21-12) to Chloe Hoang.
In men’s doubles, the American pair of Aaron Bai and Ryan Ma defeated compatriots Andre Chim and Andrew Yuan 22-20, 13-21, 21-15.
In addition, Canadian girls Jessica Cheng and Nong Sophia defeated United States representatives Chloe Ho and Ella Lee 13–21, 21–18, 21–7.
Canada’s Josh Nguyen and Chloe Hoang defeated Americans Henry Tang and Cody Tang 22-20, 17-21, 7-4 to win the mixed doubles gold.
For their part, in U17, Canadians Kevin Wang and Michael Gee deputized but the former defeated his opponent 21-18, 23-21; In the women’s final, Mia Zhang won 21-18, 21-11 over compatriot Mikayla Henares, and in the men’s doubles, Americans Kai Chong and Linden Wang came out on top against Canadians Ji and Reyes Su.
