in short needed

  • Russia may soon launch multiple referendums in eastern Ukraine.
  • This is according to information received from the US Secret Service.

According to information received from the US Secret Service, Russia has started concrete plans to hold referendums in several cities of eastern Ukraine. Its purpose is to join Russia. A senior National Security Council official said in Washington on Friday that Russia wants to hold a fake referendum in the separatist regions of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Donetsk and parts of Kharkiv.

Do you think the Ukraine war will end soon?

“The Russian leadership has instructed the authorities to launch referendums in these regions and in parts of Kharkiv,” he said. «We have information that officials are examining candidates to serve as administrators for these regions. And that could happen in the coming weeks.”

He added: “We expect Russia to manipulate the results of these referendums to falsely claim that the Ukrainian people want to join Russia. When the Kremlin claims that the people of Ukraine want to join Russia, it will be important to expose and counter this propaganda.”

Officials expect low turnout

According to information from the US intelligence service, Russian officials themselves expected that the vote for the referendum would be low, the process was not valid and the referendum did not reflect the will of the people.

Heads of separatists in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as representatives of the occupation authorities in southern Ukraine, had recently rejected such a referendum prior to the complete conquest of the Donetsk region. Currently, the Russian army controls more than half of the province.
