USA: Schumer hopes for Senate majority for less climate package

Schumer and his party colleague Joe Manchin negotiated changes to the law last week and surprisingly presented a settlement. Recently, Democratic Senator Kirsten Cinemas also conceded defeat.

Democrats in the US Senate, due to their lowest possible majority, must vote unanimously for the project to pass the House. The House of Representatives must also agree. Democrats have a large majority in this house of Congress.

After difficult negotiations, the package is only a fraction of what US President Joe Biden originally wanted to achieve for climate and social issues. Munchkin in particular repeatedly torpedoed Biden’s plans. Schumer stressed on Friday that after the most recent agreement, the most important elements of the law remain intact — such as reducing the cost of prescription drugs, combating climate change, closing tax loopholes and debt reduction. $300 billion.

Biden said the law would help Americans save money. “It is also the largest investment in history to fight climate change and increase energy security.” This will create jobs in America.
