Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that a disaster has been reported from Chamoli district. He said that the district administration, police department and disaster management have been ordered to deal with this disaster. According to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat:

“The Rishiganga project in Rini village of Chamoli is prone to damage due to heavy rains and sudden water logging. There is also a possibility of flooding in the lower areas of Alaknanda due to sudden arrival in the river. People have been alerted in coastal areas. People settled along the river are being removed from the area. As a precaution, the flow of Bhagirathi river has been stopped. To prevent the flow of water of Alaknanda, Srinagar Dam and Rishikesh Dam have been evacuated. SDRF is on alert. I beg you not to spread rumors. Pay attention to official authentic information only. I am leaving for the scene myself. ”

The Chief Minister advised people not to take any kind of rumors. Also assured that the government is taking all necessary steps. According to the news of NBT, Kirti Nagar, Devprayag, Muni ki Reti areas were asked to be on alert in view of the fast flow of water. Many houses are feared to be flowing in the water flow. Fast flowing water between the mountains can be seen in the videos.

Also the loud sound of water waves can be heard. An alert has been issued from Rishikesh to Haridwar. According to the news of Zee UP-Uttarakhand, a glacier bursting occurred in a village named Rani in the Dhauli Ganga Valley, following which the dam of the Rishiganga Hydroelectric Project on the Alaknanda River in Tapovan area was broken. Watching the videos suggests that the locals are nervous and do not know the details clearly about the incident.

Mangal Singh, Head Constable of Post Joshimath Informed that The team has left on Sunday (February 7, 2021) at 11 am. The Gauchar / Srinagar / Ratuda team has been put on alert. After the flood situation, the team of Disaster Management Department, Water Police, SDRF and District / Police Administration are on the spot. The BJP has canceled the scooter rally in light of this incident. It is being said that Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat himself will reach Chamoli to take stock of the situation arising after the glacier burst.
