According to a news release Monday afternoon, the Vallejo Police Department is investigating Sunday night’s shooting that killed one person.
The VPD reacted to the news of the shooting in the 1400 block of Solano Avenue at around 11:40 pm on Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male victim in the vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The 46-year-old man, a resident of Vallejo, was taken to a local hospital where medical personnel later declared him brought dead.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victim and the alleged suspect, identified as Daniel Juárez (Flores), 40, of Vallejo, were both sitting in a parked vehicle outside a business when Juárez shot the victim. .
The suspect was still at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody. A weapon was also recovered from the site of the incident. The suspect has been arrested and held in the Solano County Jail.
The Detective Division of the Vallejo Police Department is investigating the matter. The reasons and circumstances related to this incident are being investigated.
This is Vallejo’s eighth murder of 2021.
The identity of the victim is being held by the Solano County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the next of kin.
