Jagjag Jio is a family entertainer. Apart from Varun and Kiara, the film, which released on June 24, stars Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the lead roles. It also stars Maniesh Paul and marked the Bollywood debut of YouTube star Prajakta Koli. The film opened well on the first day and earned 9.28 crores on Friday.
Recalling an intense fight scene from the film, Varun opened up about having an argument with Kiara during the shoot. He told Pinkvilla, “I and Kiara had 2-3 fights before the scene was actually shot. Because we were discussing the scene and she was like ‘I will say this’. And I was like ‘But that’s not my point of view.’ This is not my point of view as a man. I have to earn for my family because that is what I have been taught. She’s like ‘No, you’re an anarchist’ How is that a blind devotee? Your brother and father think the same way. Then why am I chaotic if I feel that I need to earn for my family. This is what my parents taught me in my childhood.”
Varun said that he quarreled so much with Kiara on the sets that Raj had to stop him. Jugjug Jio has been winning hearts of the audience and critics as many call it ‘entertaining’. The Hindustan Times review of the film read: “Jugjug Jiyo is a complete family entertainer that talks about choosing relationships over selfishness and while doing so, there is nothing pretentious about it. No vulgar jokes to promote laughter. Or Thappad is not humor and that makes Jagjag Jio a clean comedy drama. Watch it on the big screen because it is one of those typical commercial potboilers you call paisa vasool.”
