Since September 4 last year, the Ministry of Social Prosperity has advanced the payment of the three payment cycles of the VAT refund program that have accumulated so far this year. The initiative, suspended due to a restructuring of the target group of beneficiaries of the cash transfer system, will accommodate almost 700,000 new families living in precarious conditions.
For this payment period, the national government has made an investment of 534 billion pesos, which will benefit almost two million residents with limited economic capacity. Through this payout, which will be valid until September 28, Social Prosperity will provide an amount of 267,000 pesos, corresponding to the 89,000 pesos accumulated in cycles one, two and three of 2023.
According to Social Prosperity, “The VAT refund program aims to ensure that the most vulnerable families receive resources that mitigate the impact of the tax that taxes the consumption of products and services.” No registration is required to access the program. Access is achieved through targeting that uses information from Sisbén IV. Therefore, it is important that households keep their information up to date in the community in which they live.”
How do I receive the VAT refund transfer?
In recent days, the national government has been cleaning the state program’s databases to determine whether the funds invested in the initiative benefited the poorest and most vulnerable households in the country, allowing some of the former beneficiaries to opt out of the system. To claim the amounts accumulated for the VAT refund, beneficiaries must contact the payment provider SuperGiros, which has set up a partner system with 22,000 points available throughout the country. Please note that before claiming the funding, the household owner will receive an SMS informing them of the availability of the resource in the registered community.
