Version: Alleged victim waives compensation for Alves

BARCELONA ( Associated Press) – The woman who accused Dani Alves of raping her in a nightclub last month does not seek financial compensation from the Brazilian soccer player, newspaper El Pais reported Sunday.

El País published that sources close to the investigation indicated that the 23-year-old woman decided to waive the compensation if Alves was found guilty. The woman would have said that all she wants is justice to be done and the player to pay the jail price for what allegedly happened.

Also on Sunday, Alves – who has denied the allegation of raping the woman – will ask the judge in charge of the case to allow him to testify again to give his version of what happened at an exclusive nightclub in Barcelona. Give Radio network Cadena Ser. Alves’ lawyers have told that the winger may have modified his version of what happened during his testimony.

On Friday, a judge met with state prosecutors after hearing testimony from Alves, his accuser and a witness. Thus, it was determined that the athlete should remain in jail without the right to bail. The Brazil star has spent two nights behind bars in a prison near Barcelona.

Both the police and the court have not released details about the case, and the Spanish press has published different versions of what happened.

In Spain, the crime of sexual assault ranges from unwanted or unwanted touching to rape. Under a law passed last year, rape is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The 39-year-old Alves is one of the most successful footballers in football history. He has won 42 titles, including three Champions Leagues with Barcelona and two Copa Américas with the Brazilian team. He has just played his third World Cup, the only title he is missing.

Mexican club Pumas terminated Alves’ contract in July after learning that he had been arrested in Spain.
