Actor Vidya Balan star Sherni will appear on Amazon Prime Video next month, the streaming platform announced Monday.
Directed by Newton fame Amit Masurkar, she will portray Balan as an upright forest official who strives for balance in a world of human-animal conflict, while also seeking her true calling in a hostile environment. The original Amazon movie is produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment.
The trio reunite for the second time after their critically acclaimed film Shakuntala Devi in 2020, starring Balan.
Vijay Subramaniam, director and head of content, Amazon Prime Video India, said they were delighted with their collaboration with Abundantia Entertainment and T-Series, which is a powerhouse of fresh and engaging content.
“Following the success of Shakuntala Devi, we are excited to introduce Sherni, another Vidya Balan star, to our customers in India and around the world. The film is an intriguing tale of triumph that will not only appeal to the public. “entertainment, but also an experience. of adventure in the comfort of their homes,” Subramaniam said in a statement.
Vikram Malhotra, producer and CEO – Abundantia Entertainment said the film is one of the most special and important stories his company has worked on.
“I am also very excited for the fans of Vidya Balan to see her in the unique avatar of a forest officer,” Malhotra said.
Bhushan Kumar, producer of the T-series, said he was delighted that the film would find a worldwide audience on the streamer.
