Vikings coach Mike Zimmer indicated last week that it was Oli Udoh’s job to lose as a starting right guard, and nothing has changed since then.
The Vikings presented their first unofficial depth chart of the season on Tuesday, and Udoh was listed as the starter ahead of Dakota Dossier. Dozier, who started all 16 games last season on left guard, is splitting the first team representative on the right with Udoh.
“Oli and I are getting behind this,” said Dossier. “Every day we have an opportunity and we go out there and make the best of it. The competition is great. Makes you better.”
Other interesting depth-chart listings have Bashad Breeland on Cameron Dantzler and Nick Vigil as the third starting linebacker behind Eric Kendrick and Anthony Barr. Zimmer said on Monday that Vigil was playing the best of all linebackers battling for that spot.
Although it was no surprise, Rashod Hill was listed as the starting left tackle and Stephen Weatherly as the starting right defensive end.
In previous years, the Vikings had designated second- and third-teams after the start. In this year’s depth chart, it only lists the backup behind the start. But backups are generally listed in the order of how they stack up now.
At quarterback, backups are listed as Jake Browning, Nate Stanley, Kellen Mondt and Danny Atling, after starter Kirk Cousins. Despite being listed fourth, Mond, who was dropped from the COVID-19 reserve list on Tuesday after 10 days, is a lock to make the 53-man roster.
At wide receiver, the first three backups listed are KJ Osborne, Chad Beebe and Dede Westbrook, behind starters Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson.
