VinFast is a new brand trying to find a foothold in the market and one of its cars could be the key to regain its position. It’s the VinFast VF 8, a model that’s already arrived in the United States and one that we’ll start seeing in Europe soon. For now, that’s all we know about him.
To begin with, we are talking about a car of a new firm, but its design is signed by a well-known company: Pininfarina. In this way a very individual style has been achieved with which it will try to stand out in the saturated field of SUVs, with more and more models in it, in the world of electric cars.
Likewise, another property with which this model will try to attract attention is its interior, where minimalism reigns. We can see a heads-up display of sorts on the windshield and a large central touch screen, although there are buttons on the central tunnel for functions such as gear selection.
Furthermore, the interiors of the VinFast VF 8 promise ample space for five people. Let us not forget that we are talking about a car that measures 4,750 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width and 1,667 mm in height. With this and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, habitability should be one of its strengths.
In the mechanical segment, on the other hand, there are options depending on the finish chosen, though they all come with two engines. Eco and Plus variants will be offered with the former highlighting the power of 348 CV and torque of 500 Nm. Similarly, the Plus has 402 hp and 620 Nm of torque, while the batteries are 82 and 87.7 kWh.
With this first battery version, the approved autonomy in the US EPA cycle is approximately 288 km. This certainly isn’t an attractive figure, although the second option may offer more range. Of course, we shouldn’t rule out the arrival of a variant with a bigger battery or better power management.
Be that as it may, the two variants of the VF 8 have a charger that supports up to 250 kW of power and thus can charge from 10 to 70% in half an hour, with just five minutes between them. Also, the battery comes with a manufacturer warranty of 10 years or 200,000 kms.
Finally, with regard to the equipment of the finish, the Echo includes elements such as 19 “wheels and heated and electronic seats. Plus, for its part, has 20-inch wheels, a panoramic roof and heated rear seats. Of course, we Also worth noting is the City Edition launch version with LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, 10-speaker sound system …
So the VinFast VF 8 price in the US starts at $55,500, which translates to around 51,300 Euros. Meanwhile, the City Edition variant retails for up to $62,500 -57,765 euros- which gives us an idea of what it could cost in Europe. Nevertheless, the brand will also offer the option of renting this model.
