The United States Embassies in Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela announced new costs for obtaining US visas, including business and tourism or B1/B2. This measure will come into effect from next Tuesday, May 30. Peru is also included. What is the new cost of obtaining a US visa?
In Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela and Peru, tourist visas, i.e. B1/B2 and BCC categories, and student and exchange visas will increase from US$160 to US$185. This process can be done at the embassy of your country.
It should be noted that, in the case of Venezuela, they do not have consular representation in the United States since 2019, after breaking diplomatic ties with the administration of Nicolás Maduro. Therefore, they must attend to other consulates. Bogotá is the most frequent for Venezuelans, although they also have other options: Dominican Republic, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico or Spain.
With regard to visas for temporary jobs or categories H, I, O, P, Q and R, the cost of the process will be US$205 and no longer US$190.
Visas will go from US$205 to US$315 for a businessman, investor or treaty seeker in a specialized business (Category E).
How to process US Visa?
To process the visa, citizens of Mexico, Argentina and Peru must follow these steps:
- Select Visa Category.
- Complete Form DS-160.
- Create an account on the US Embassy page with the requested data.
- Indicate the confirmation number of the form.
- Enter an address to receive the document.
- Pay the cost of the visa, as per the new rules.
- request an appointment.
