According to Volvo, the new EX30 protects the lives of both its occupants and other road users in today’s busy urban environment.
Volvo Cars released some details about the safety equipment of the new EX30, which will be unveiled on 7 June. Despite being the most compact SUV launched by the brand, it excels in terms of safety.
According to Volvo, the new EX30 protects the lives of both its occupants and other road users in today’s busy urban environment. One of the innovations that the new model is equipped with is the door opening alert.
If a cyclist or other user is driving by, it warns the occupant, through visual and auditory signals, to avoid hitting them. According to Cycling UK, an average of 60 people are killed or seriously injured every year in the UK alone by unintentionally opening doors in a cyclist’s path.
The structural design of the EX30 provides strength to the A, B and C pillars as well as the roof. The chassis and roll cage are manufactured from various forms of high strength steel.
It also includes a side airbag inside the driver’s seat. In case of side impact, it helps in reducing head and chest injuries. It is also equipped with a sensor that detects eye and facial movements to detect whether the driver is distracted, drowsy or inattentive.
Thus, and like any model of the brand, the new EX30 is equipped with a large set of active safety systems and driver assistance. For now we will have to wait till June 7 to see what other surprises it brings.
