DUBLIN (NWN) – Australia No. 8 Rob Valetini was banned for three matches for a head-to-head tackle off Wales lock Adam Beard.

In Cardiff last weekend, Valentini hit his head and injured a beard. Beard failed a head assessment and required 20 stitches around his right eyebrow. Valentini was sent off and lost 29–28 to the Wallabies.

Valentini admitted at his disciplinary hearing that his foul deserved a red card, and the panel considered negligent.

He was suspended on Saturday from two Brumbies games in late January and early February. He was also suspended from the Super Rugby game against Moana Pacifica on 18 February, but will be available if he completes a head contact coaching intervention.
