warhammer obsession

A game of war, strategy and fantasy found today at the Palacio de la Audiencia. The Triscale Numantia Association organized day one of the ‘Warhammer’ competition this Saturday, which brought together 14 of Spain’s best players, including last year’s discipline’s world champion Ivan Regalado of Soriano.

One of the group’s members, Agustin Llorente, details that this playful option, practiced by thousands of people across the country, not only has as its backdrop a competitive environment where chance plays an important role, but also miniatures and miniatures. There is a passion for it too. Preparation. Smaller, smaller figures build forces by adding points in battles where the dice substitute the progression of soldiers facing each other on a board, gaining land on the opposing block.

Measuring tapes and dice are also essential tools for the development of the game, in a “beautiful hobby” governed by rules and tables that score elements on the board. “The competition is set in ELA mode, as is done in chess,” says Llorente. Thus, the confrontation creates several rounds of brawls until the two finalists are reached.

Mathematics also plays a major role, as players must calculate their chances based on their position on the battlefield, set in a fictional setting, with characters inspired by neo-gothic tendencies.

The day, which began at eight in the morning and lasted for twelve hours, was accompanied by a splendid collection of miniature paintings and a frequent figure painting workshop, where various techniques were demonstrated.
