Amid the current crisis in Hollywood and its strikes Warner Bros. Pictures takes strict measures and pauses major agreements with manufacturing companies.
Weeks after George RR Martin confirmed that his contract with HBO had expired and that it would not be renewed due to the situation in the industry, other big names in the industry are left without their agreements.
An article published by Variety confirms that the David Zaslav-led company’s agreements with JJ Abrams, Greg Berlanti, Chuck Lorre, Bill Lawrence, John Wells and Mindy Kaling’s Bad Robot have been suspended.
It is currently unknown how this will affect future productions that were planned for film and television, as many of them were actively working on projects for the company.
How much could Warner Bros. Pictures lose from the strikes?
Months have passed since Hollywood screenwriters began suspending their activities after weeks of negotiations in which no agreement was reached with studios and major production companies. Weeks later, the actors joined, causing a massive shutdown of some of the industry’s biggest productions.
But although further negotiations have taken place in the meantime, the conflict appears to be far from over. Especially since many rumors indicate that companies have no interest in giving in and want to extend the strikes as long as possible, even if it means major losses.
A few days ago, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Warner Bros. Discovery could suffer losses of $300 million to $500 million from the strikes, adding to the losses the company suffered from the failure of films like “Shazam.” has! Fury of the gods or The Lightning.
