Washington State Football Coach Fired Over Covid-19 Vaccine Refusal

This is the latest Covid-19 vaccine problem to thrill the sports world. Earlier Monday, the National Hockey League announced that San Jose Sharks’ Evander Kane had been suspended after investigating whether he submitted a fake Covid-19 vaccination card, according to Front Office Sports and ESPN.

In July, Rolovich stated in his post on social networks that he “chose not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine for reasons that will remain personal.”

“Although I made my own decision,” Rolovich said at the time, “I respect that everyone – including our coaches, staff and student athletes – can make their own decisions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Rolovich was named the 33rd head football coach in WSU program history on January 14, 2020. Last season, the team played 1-3, which was cut due to the pandemic. The Cougars are 4-3 this season.

On Saturday, following a 34:31 win at Stanford at home, Rolovich was asked at a post-match press conference if he knew if he would coach the team next week.

“I don’t know,” Rolovich told reporters.

Asked if he was given instructions between now and Monday regarding the release request, Rolovich said he was waiting for an email.
