Talking about the game, before the start of the Rajkot tie, Team India’s 2-1 lead over South Africa was a do-or-die match. Captain Rishabh Pant once again lost the toss and came out to bat for the fourth time in the series.
India didn’t get the start they wanted and neither did the top order stitch up a decent partnership as the hosts were reduced to 81 for four in 13 overs before Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik went ahead. The all-rounder hit a 31-ball 46 while Karthik smashed a 27-ball 55 as India were bundled out for 169 for six in 20 overs. Of his total, 73 runs came in the last five overs.
In reply, South Africa struggled from the start as they were bundled out for 87 in 16.5 overs. Avesh Khan was the bowlers’ choice with four wickets for 18 runs.
