It seems that chameleons are not the only ones who can change their skin color in the animal kingdom as a video going viral on the internet shows a hummingbird changing its color too.

Shared by the viral hog, the mesmerizing clip shows the hummingbird, sitting on a man’s arm, slowly changing from dark green to black before slowly turning bright pink. All these color changes occur when the bird turns its head in different directions.

Since being shared, the video has collected over 23,400 views on YouTube. It has also been shared on many social media platforms.

According to the caption of the social media post, a man in Oregon, USA, saw a bird lying on the ground in his backyard. “I picked it up in my hand and held it lightly by my chest,” said the man, “I being the photographer, I went back into the house to get my phone and went back out and opened my hand and It mounted to my thumb, where it stayed for over a minute while I videotaped it with my other hand.

Further, he further said that the bird used to hover about 2-4 feet from their face before taking off. “I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life,” said the man.

Hummingbirds are some of the brightest colored animals in the whole world, according to science daily, Experts have explained that the rainbow colors of hummingbirds come from the pancake-shaped structures in their plumage. As birds turn their heads in different directions, the special shape of their pigment-containing structures enables them to reflect a rainbow of light.

This lets our eyes know that this unique hummingbird is changing color every time we turn its head.
