We didn’t tell them she would be attending

The controversy continues over the documentary “The Tapes of Rosa Peral,” which Netflix released at the same time as the series “The Body on Fire,” a feature film starring Úrsula Corberó and Quim Gutiérrez that recalls the “Crime of the City Guard.” Barcelona reminds.

The first to complain was Félix Martín, the prosecutor in the case, who recently regretted the outcome of the broadcast because he had not been informed that it was Rosa Peral’s testimony. “They explained to me that they wanted to make a documentary about the crime committed by the city police. I emphasize this because in no way did they tell me that they wanted to make a documentary about the legitimate and subjective vision of one of the condemned people,” he commented in a radio interview. “At no time was I told that the vision would only be given to one of those convicted of the crime.”

Carles Vidal, director of “The Tapes of Rosa Peral,” has admitted that the participants in the documentary were not informed of his idea to obtain Peral’s testimony. “We didn’t communicate that it was a partial documentation,” he admits. “We wanted to explain a story that hadn’t been told before, so we were careful in telling it, depending on what things were involved,” he adds in an interview on TV3’s Planta Baixa. “We told them that we wanted to add all the stories that were done with the protagonists and the prosecutor. Specifically, we did not tell them that Rosa Peral would be taking part.” “We were not obliged to do so and it is common practice that we do not reveal all the people taking part,” he emphasizes. “At that moment we were already talking to Rosa and thought that it was important for the documentary that they could keep the story that they had maintained up to that moment. We feared that knowing Rosa would attend could change her story.”

These statements sparked protests from other participants in the documentary, including journalist Mayka Navarro. “It’s not about what I would or wouldn’t have said if I had known it was a documentary. That wouldn’t have changed. What happened is that I would not have participated in a documentary that tries to question the case by denouncing that it is a sexist act. “Treatment of Rosa,” says the communicator.
