We were shocked, my face was bloody

Those who witnessed the beating of a man who confronted the thief who tried to steal his cell phone in Poblenou, Barcelona, spoke of the brutality of the attack. “With all his aggression, the thief wanted to throw himself on top of the person,” explained one of these witnesses.

They were moments of confusion and shock. “Many people came to help him, his face was bloody, he didn’t say anything,” said witnesses about the victim.

They saw how the thief who tried to steal his cell phone punched the victim in the head and face. They also described that, when the victim fell down, the thief kept kicking him in the face.

The events happened this Tuesday on the street, in broad daylight. The victim was in his car, with the window down and the cell phone between his legs, waiting for the door to open to enter the parking lot of his house. Then the thief on a bicycle took the phone and quickly took it away.

Without hesitation, the victim chased the car and when it arrived, got out of the car to confront the thief. The car, which was still moving, crashed into a building.

The thief first landed several punches on the victim’s head, and when he fell to the ground, he kicked him hard, including in the face.

The aggressor dropped the mobile phone and escaped before the Police arrived. The victim was able to speak to the first officers who arrived on the scene, but began to not remember what happened, a loss of memory that he attributed to a kick to the head.

The man was taken by ambulance to the Hospital del Mar, where he began to deteriorate, which led to his admission to the critical unit in an extremely serious situation.

The Mossos d’Esquadra is investigating the case and trying to find the alleged killer.
