The challenge sees Internet users sit and deadlift 500 pounds and then run a mile in less than five minutes. The catch is that they are doing it all on the same day.

How did the viral challenge come about?

In his 2018 book, the director recalled a conversation with athlete Scott Punchik. The pair decided to come up with a challenge that included completing a sub-five-minute mile, 500-pound back squat, and 50 monolithic pull-ups in one day as a particularly “elusive” fitness challenge. Was.

The challenge lingered in the book for three years because most people considered it impossible.

It’s now gaining more mainstream recognition, thanks to Adam Klink, a CrossFit coach from Virginia who decided to give it a try last year during the pandemic.
