What is the penalty for not engraving the glass patent?

A few days ago, the Senate approved various changes to the Traffic Law to prevent the sale of stolen vehicles.

In these changes, as indicated by the Government, it is established that it is necessary to “engrave the license plate on the windows and mirrors of new and used cars.”

However, this is not the only change made, because it is also prohibited to drive with lights or bulbs other than those authorized, as well as “the sale and loading of fuel in cars without a front or rear license plate. “

This last regulation, as well as driving with a false, altered or license plate from another vehicle, is punishable by fines that reach up to 100 UTM, that is, more than $6,000,000.

As indicated by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, drivers have a period of 12 months to use the measure in their vehicles.

On the other hand, new car dealers are responsible for delivering this transportation with individual engraving.

“Vehicle owners have 12 months to be able to register vehicles that are already on their property and new ones must leave this plate already recorded in each of the windows involved ,” the authority said.

Explained by Undersecretary of Crime Prevention, Eduardo Vergara, in his red social that the fine for not complying with this regulation is “equivalent to a serious offense.”

Therefore, according to the National Library of the National Congress of Chile, this penalty has a value from 1 to 1.5 UTM, that is, between $63,452 to $95,178.

However, this number may vary, because the UTM is calculated based on the amount established by the Internal Revenue Service in September.
