What Jio’s magic is doing! In this case, Airtel took the lead for the 5th consecutive month


  • According to TRAI, more than 4 million wireless subscribers joined Airtel’s network in December.
  • Geo’s network registered over 4.7 million wireless subscribers in December.
  • Vodafone Idea lost 57 lakh users.

The magic of Reliance Jio is seen to be waning from mobile phone users. For the 5th consecutive month in December 2020, Bharti Airtel added more users to its network than Geo. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), more than 4 million wireless subscribers joined Airtel’s network in December. So, the number of wireless subscribers joining Geo’s network was 4.7 lakh.

Vodafone Idea’s current bad
In contrast, 5.7 million users left the Vodafone Idea (Vi) network in December 2020. It seems that users leaving Vodafone Idea are moving to Airtel’s network. The company has reported a one-time loss of Rs 10,894 crore in the third quarter, down 1.7 per cent from a year ago.

Which company has the most user base?
Trino’s mobile user data shows that Airtel’s user base grew to 33.87 crore in December. So, Gionee’s user base has grown to more than 0.87 crore users. The user base of the loss-making Vodafone Idea fell to 8.42 crore users in December 2020. Airtel posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 8,554 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year ended December 2020. Gio’s net profit rose 15.55 per cent to Rs 3,489 crore in the December quarter.

How many users are active on which network
According to the Visitor Location Register, which shows the number of active subscribers on which mobile network, 97.1 per cent of Airtel’s total users are active. The figure is 80.23 per cent for Geo and 90.26 per cent for Vodafone Idea.
