What Went Wrong at Astroworld and How Panic Affected the Crowd Surge

STEVE ALLEN:

Something … well, something clearly went wrong because you had several deaths, but there were many injured.

And look at the age of those people who have passed away. They went to the concert to have a good time, return home safe, talk about it, and preserve memories for life. And, unfortunately, this will not happen.

What is very clear to me from the reports I am now reading is that many people have been in distress over a long period. And when you see the footage of the fans going up on stage, on the camera platforms, how it was not noticed by the show stopping team, the management, how it was not noticed and what they did not react to and what happens – and judging by the other videos that I saw, the artist actually looks back at the backstage of the stage, as if he is looking to see if everything is in order, as if he is looking at someone.

And I never saw anyone go on stage and talk to Travis and say, “Look, we have a problem.” There may be videotapes to support this, but I haven’t seen it for sure. And you certainly expect to see it pretty quickly when someone comes on stage and says stop the show. We have just warned us of a serious situation.
