Endometriosis is the most common, affecting one in ten women with varying degrees of intensity. What may be mild in others may be violent in others.
Today it is requested that women ask for help, because they are not used to live with pelvic pain, short, with painful periods, but also the call to health doctors is suspected and to reach earlier diagnoses so that this condition does not interfere in many aspects of women’s lives in the most serious way: from their life marital work
But inside the womb the body is covered, which it sheds every month, and which lasts for months. In women with endometriosis, this tissue grows outside the uterus, in various areas, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and intestines.
They are the main signs pain, infertility, late menstruation and pain during intercourse”, explains Dr. Ricardo Rueda Sáenz, gynecologist and fertility specialist at Reprotec.
In addition to abdominal pain and infertility, endometriosis can cause urinary symptoms, digestive upset, and chronic fatigue.
Although there is no clear cause, genetic and hormonal factors influence its appearance. The truth is that it may take several years for a woman to reach a diagnosis, and since medical progress has been made, laparoscopy is no longer the first option.
“Today, with an empathetic clinical approach of careful listening and examination, you can have a very high degree of diagnostic certainty about endometriosis. There are advances in diagnostic images, especially in radiography and magnetic resonance imaging,” said Dr. Reed
Also, a salivary test for the diagnosis of endometriosis has already been developed in France and is expected to be available soon in Colombia.
However, as regards treatment in general, because it is chronic, it cannot be cured; endometriosis is controlled.
“We measure or treat more and more advanced methods than pain control; we have methods of surgery which must be performed by the most skilled hands“, explains Dr. Rueda.
In terms of fertility, the expert explains that women suffering from endometriosis “can be prepared for fertility preservation techniques, being able to save fertilized or infertile eggs or undergo fertility treatment first and then surgery.”
World Endometriosis Day In addition to technology and professionals trained in the field, something essential is required for the proper treatment of these patients: empathy.
Endometriosis is a very disabling condition that significantly limits a woman’s life, even leading to depression.
This is why medical evaluation and follow-up is so important. This month there will be a lot of discussion on the subject and various activities are being carried out. But the end is well informed to all, because this differs.
