Actor Amitabh Bachchan once talked about attending a Mumbai party hosted by veteran actor Sadhna. Late actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis were also present. In an earlier interview, Amitabh revealed how he got ‘a fight for all’ at a party where plates and food were thrown at each other. He also said that Sadhna ‘went about her work as if nothing had happened’. Recalling the incident, Amitabh said that he found it very disturbing. A few years after the incident, Amitabh and Sunil worked together in Reshma Aur Shera (1971), produced and directed by Sunil. The film also starred Waheeda Rehman, Vinod Khanna, Rakhi, Ranjeet and Amrish Puri. They starred together almost a decade later in Shaan (1980), directed by Ramesh Sippy. The film also starred Shashi Kapoor, Rakhi, Shatrughan Sinha, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Parveen Babi, Bindiya Goswami and Johnny Walker.
In an interview, Amitabh had said, “Sunil Dutt sahab and Nargisji first hosted me in Bombay, now Mumbai, when I was officially given a screen test to see if I could enter the film industry. It was 1968 and it was Mohan Sehgal who operated it during the shooting of a film with Manoj Kumarji at Ruptara Studio. I was staying at the Ajanta Hotel at that time. 1000 of my father’s hard-earned money, which was a month’s earnings for him.”
“After the test, I was taken to meet him at his house and he took me to a party at Sadhnaji’s house. There I witnessed a free fight between a producer and a journalist for all, plates and food. but was being thrown off, unconcerned by the hostess who went about her work as if nothing had happened. I found it very disturbing and remembered that I was returning to Delhi, where I was at my job in Kolkata Was living with his parents after resigning from then Calcutta,” he said.
Meanwhile, Amitabh will next be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s epic fantasy drama Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film is set to hit the theaters on 9 September. Apart from this, he also has heights with Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta and Parineeti Chopra. Fans will see Amitabh in Nag Ashwin’s film ‘K’ with Deepika Padukone and Prabhas.
Amitabh also recently announced the return of his popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 14. He has had all the seasons of KBC since 2000, except for the third season in 2007. It was hosted by actor Shahrukh Khan.
