When and where should I watch the second Grand Slam of the year?

The second Grand Slam of the year begins on Sunday at Roland Garros and, for the first time in nearly two decades, Rafael Nadal will not be competing at the French Open.

The 14-time champion has entered the clay court every year since making his debut there in 2005, but has been sidelined with a hip injury and is uncertain when he will return to the tournament. Everyone is wondering who will leave Paris with the men’s trophy in the next two weeks.

Current No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, former No. 1 Daniil Medvedev, 22-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and the talented 20-year-old Holger Rune are the most frequently mentioned names of contenders for the men’s title. There are other players who are eyeing the task, including Stefanos Tsitsipas, runner-up to Djokovic at the French Open in 2021 and again at the Australian Open this January.

Among the most anticipated matches on Day 1 will be No.2 seed Aryna Sabalenka, a 25-year-old Belarusian who won the Australian Open in January, against Marta Kostyuk, a 25-year-old Ukrainian Kostyuk, who is ranked 39th. she won her first WTA title in March in Austin, Texas, and her fourth at Roland Garros in 2021. Kostyuk refused to shake his hands after being asked to fight in the war in Ukraine with opponents from Russia or Belarus.
