A new chapter has been revealed where a professional player is chosen between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Now it’s Kevin-Prince Boateng’s turn.
The now former player who decided to retire a few months ago gave an unexpected answer to Rio Ferdinand’s VIBE with LIMA podcast, where he assured that he had to lie to play for Barcelona.
“I remember when I arrived at Barcelona they immediately asked me who is the best player in the world. I had to say it was Lionel Messi, I lied. “It was one of the biggest lies of my life.”
The player who played with Ghana expressed the reason why he had to say that the Argentine is the best: “I usually always tell the truth, but I lied because this is the only way to wear the Barcelona shirt. Sorry I’m a Barça fan, but I always supported Real Madrid when I was a teenager. I like Cristiano Ronaldo. But they told me I had to say otherwise, I wouldn’t play.
Boateng also told an anecdote about Lionel Messi consulting him about Italian football: “Messi is the captain, but he doesn’t talk much in the locker room. We talked once in the showers and he asked me if it was difficult is scoring goals in Italy, because Ronaldo was there at that time. It shows their rivalry. I told him that it was more difficult for Ronaldo to go there and that it took him three years to score in every game. “People easily forget what they did there.”
He also talked about Ten Hag having to leave Manchester United and this is what he talked about when he took Cristiano Ronaldo from the Premier League team.
“Ten Hag should leave Manchester United, especially after what he did to Cristiano Ronaldo and all the other players involved in the talks with him. He doesn’t have the right level to coach Manchester United. Think the situation where there is a goalscorer in the roster and you just remove him. Going against the best player in the team? It’s not possible, there has to be respect for him,” said Boateng in the interview with Ferdinand.
