Starting this Wednesday, September 13, the payment of the Christmas bonus to public sector workers will begin.
This contribution to the economy is thanks to Law 21,526, which came into effect at the end of 2022 and provides a bonus for these dates. The amount people receive will depend on each worker’s salary.
Wages for public sector workers are given between the 18th and 24th of each month, but starting in September, this has been changed.
Thanks to the Decree made by the Ministry of Finance, the delivery of salary and bonus is set as follows, starting this Wednesday, September 13.
- If they paid on the 18th of the month, the new payment date is Wednesday, September 13.
- If they paid on the 19th of the month, the new payment date is Thursday, September 14.
- If they paid on the 21st of the month, the new payment date is Friday, September 15.
- If they paid on the 22nd of the month, the new payment date is Friday, September 15.
- If they paid on the 23rd of the month, the new payment date is Friday, September 15.
- If they paid on the 24th of the month, the new payment date is Friday, September 15.
As for the pensioners, the payment for them started on Friday, September 1 and they will receive $23,261 and $11,933 for each dependent family they were credited on August 31.
The amount of the National Holidays bonus for public sector workers is $81,196, those with a salary equal to or less than $943,703 until August 2023. They will receive $56,365, those with a salary higher than the indicated amount.
