The process will take 30 days instead of the previously planned 90 days, according to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The measure comes into force from October 1st.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will deploy additional staff and implement improvements to reduce the average processing time for these applications from 90 days to 30 days for U.S. citizen parolees. Cubans, Haitians, Venezuelans or Nicaraguans.

“The goal is to ensure that individuals receive timely authorization to work and can support themselves and their families while they continue their processes in the United States,” DHS adds.
