What cars and license plates are affected by Hoy No Circula Saturday?
As we said, Hoy No Circula is a program tasked to improve air quality in the areas where it is applied. The purpose is to reduce polluting substances in the atmosphere by reducing the number of vehicles in circulation. Therefore, restrictions are made that exclude certain vehicles.
These restrictions revolve around a calendar that determines who must rest at any given time and which vehicles can (or cannot) travel between 05:00 and 22:00 hours. The affected vehicles cannot pass through the delimited area at the specified time.
In short, all vehicles must rest one day a week. Some need to rest every Saturday and some do it every week. All restrictions are defined in the image above.
As we said, the restrictions are proposed in a rotating format so that they do not always affect the same vehicles as they should rest on saturday. To decide, the hologram number and the last number of the license plate are considered. Vehicles with hologram number two must rest every Saturday.
If we talk about cars with hologram one, on Saturday they can circulate depending on the last number of their license plate. This Saturday we are facing the fourth of the month of September and, therefore, the cars with license plates ending in a number must stay at home. All this is also explained in the picture above.
However, we cannot ignore that there are some exceptions. Some vehicles can be driven independently of their plate number and, therefore, Today Off Saturday Circulation does not apply to them. The beneficiary vehicles are as follows:
- Those with holograms 0 and 00
- Those that run on electricity, natural gas or hybrids
- Those with a disabled license plate
- All dedicated urban transport services (including funeral homes)
- Those that offer school or passenger transportation
- Those intended for public safety and/or civil protection
If you fail to comply with these restrictions, the fine will be 20 to 30 times the Unit of Measurement and Update (IN ONE), equal to 1,924.40 pesos And until 2,886.60 pesos.
