White comeback! Real Madrid came from behind to beat Real Sociedad to regain the lead in LaLiga

Real Madrid defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 at home and remains at the top of the league on the fifth day of the championship.

The visit went ahead with a goal from Ander Barrenetxea (5), but Fede Valverde equalized (46) and Joselu scored the second (60), marking the white team’s fifth win in five games before facing Unión Berlin on Wednesday received in the Champions League.

The victory allows the Meringues to retain their lead in LaLiga, which Barcelona temporarily took away from them with their 5-0 win over Betis on Saturday.

Real Madrid looked very vertically for the opponent’s goal, but the Basques soon took the lead in a game in which goalkeepers Kepa and Álex Remiro were the heroes.

Take Kubo shot the ball into the middle of the penalty area, where Barrenetxea appeared to shoot from point-blank range. Kepa was able to stop the first shot, but his rebound was collected again by “Barrene” to repeat it and open the scoring.

The Japanese, who gave the Merengue defense a headache, was close to making it 2-0, but his shot was rejected by Kepa and the rebounding ball was sent into the clouds by Barrenetxea (29′).

VALVERDE BEGINS REMONDANCE

Real Madrid looked for an equalizer with deep passes and cross runs against a Real Sociedad that was trying to slow the game down.

Valverde’s quick goal after the break with a hard shot (46th) gave Ancelotti’s team a boost and took control of the game.

The locals kept Real Sociedad away from their goal, who found it more difficult to reach Kepa’s domain due to heavy Merengue pressure.

Then Joselu, who had hit the crossbar in the first half, appeared and headed Fran García’s cross from the left into the goal (60′).

Trailing on the scoreboard, Real Sociedad renewed their attack to move forward, but couldn’t find a way to beat a Real Madrid team that focused more on defense to achieve victory in the end.
