There is no point in constantly changing the sheets if you have this bad habit that you may not be aware of when you fall asleep.
A study based on a survey conducted in the UK by the company Mattress Next Day, in which 1,017 Brits took part and revealed their sleeping habits. 18% said they slept in their socks and 70% said they were the same ones they wore throughout the day.
Health experts have rejected this measure because Dirty socks can contain the same bacteria you find in cockroaches and feces. the same ones you take to bed with you.
The research also took some samples of socks that the respondents had worn between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. and found that half had done so Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a species of bacteria that causes infections in humans, primarily in the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and lungs, the same one that can spread easily.
In fact, some socks were dirtier than TV controls that hadn’t been cleaned for an extended period of time, which is no small feat since these devices are often dirtier than a toilet.
Experts also added that feet have around 250,000 sweat glands, meaning moisture can build up in dirty socks and form fungi known as dermatophytes, which can cause athlete’s foot.
Researchers at Mattress Next Door advised people who want to cover their feet to wear a clean pair of socks before bed. They also recommend washing dirty socks at temperatures above 140°F to kill any bacteria.
