Why Hasan Ali is not playing in 2nd ODI vs Australia: Pakistan have decided to bring in Shaheen Afridi in place of Hasan Ali.
Pakistan and Australia are set to take on each other in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. After winning the first game, Australia would like to capture the series, while Pakistan are aiming to level it.
Like in the first match in Lahore, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. Australia went into the game with an unchanged squad, while Pakistan brought in their fast bowler Shaheen Afridi. Pakistan has already lost the Test series and would like to stay alive in the ODIs.
Why is Hasan Ali not playing in the 2nd ODI vs Australia?
Pakistan has decided to bring in Shaheen Afridi in place of Hasan Ali. Hasan Ali is understood to have been dropped due to his mediocre performance in the recent past. Hasan Ali conceded 56 runs in eight overs in the first ODI. In the last T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, Hasan Ali conceded 207 runs at an economy of 9.00, and scalped just five wickets.

The talk of ousting Hasan Ali started right after the T20 World Cup. In 2021, Hasan Ali took seven ODI wickets in four matches at an economy of 7.03. In PSL 2022 too, Ali took just nine wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 10.84.
Pakistan has benefited a lot with the arrival of Shaheen Afridi. Afridi has been a staple of Pakistan’s bowling and he recently won the PSL 2022 with Lahore Qalandars under his captaincy. Afridi took 20 wickets in the tournament at an economy of 7.57.
Australia beat Pakistan by 88 runs in the first ODI. Australia scored 313 in the first innings courtesy of Travis Head’s century and Ben McDermott’s half-century. Despite Imam-ul-Haq’s brilliant century, Pakistan could only manage 225 runs.
