Will 5G Internet be launched in Pakistan before India? This question is because the neighboring country is planning to restore 5G in the financial year 2022-23 (1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023). If this happens, Pakistan will overtake India in this advanced technology. Currently, 5G has been rolled out in America, South Korea, many countries of Europe and China.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its annual report for 2020 says that Pakistan is developing a comprehensive roadmap for 5G technology in the country. Its objective is to auction spectrum for 5G services in the financial year 2023. The Covid-19 epidemic has also become a blessing for Pakistan, as the digital economy in the country has grown in this hour of trouble. The Corona crisis has prompted regulators and stakeholders to improve digital infrastructure.
5G frequency band not available
Talking of 5G in India, we are far behind. The 5G frequency band is not available at this time. The bidding by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz is scheduled to begin from March 1. The government has kept the 3300-3600 MHz band out of the auction this time, while the industry is demanding to include it. He says that it is necessary for 5G.
Currently, there are three major telecom players in India. Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea whose condition is bad. Jio is constantly saying that we are fully ready for 5G and the government should approve it as soon as possible, if this is not done then India will be far behind. At the same time, Airtel says that the Indian telecom market is not suitable for 5G right now. 5G service should be restored within the next 3-5 years.
