Nine days before the end of the year, the automotive sector has a report on the commercial balance and performance. Like any company, I expect brands to achieve projected goals. One of them is to exceed the limits of the United States in motorcycle sales. Considering this, the US sells 780,000 units of motorcycles a year, while Brazil sells an average of 930,000 units.
The question is, does Colombia achieve what is projected by the Andes as unions?
It is the first time that the motorcycle market managed to sell a total of 758,370 vehicles until November. Therefore, assuming that the annual sales figure in the United States is 780,000, Columbia needs only 21,630 units to be at least equal to the figure.
But the goal of the sector was more ambitious, from January 2022, Andemos launched 850,000 new motorcycles on the country’s roads.
To predict whether the end will happen or not, we asked their main brands and sales forecast for December and made a calculation based on that.
The one that sells the most motorcycles in Colombia, Bajaj, said that it expects to sell more than 9,500 units in December.
“The motorcycle month of December was held in an atypical way due to the structural issues of the market and the country, so we expect to close the month with sales of more than 1,500 units, with Pulsar and Pugil at the front,” said Esteban Zuluaga, Marketing Manager of the UMA Group.
If it happens, with this projection of the figure, Columbia would be only 12,130 away from the equation of the sales figure of the North American nation. But to get closer to the goal, we take the predictions of Yamaha and AKT as the next brands that sell the most motorcycles in Colombia after Bajaj.
Yamaha expects to sell 10,300 units this month alone, AKT declined to give an estimated figure, but this brand sells approximately more than 8,000 motorcycles per month.
“The brand concludes the best balance despite the circumstances of global logistics and the high devaluation that has impacted prices. The increase will be greater than 5%, with the second place in the sales of a wide range of countries and for the tenth consecutive year taking the first place as the motorcycle brand most remembered by Colombians,” said Juan Carlos Gonzales, president of Incolmotos Yamaha.
Therefore, if this is true, Columbia would surpass the United States in sales with 786, 170, only with the sales of the three largest brands in the country, while the figure would be much higher with the total sales of the entire sector in December. . This means that even the projection of 850,000 sales at the end of 2022 can be made, according to calculations, more units need 63,830 in December, a figure that falls on other brands in the sector such as Auteco; Suzuki or Honda.
The average total sales per month in Colombia is more than 60,000 units of motorcycles, or at best, more than 70,000.
The answer is yes: Yes, Colombia will be able to exceed the annual sales of large countries such as the United States by the end of 2022, and will be the second largest buyer of motorcycles in the country after Brazil. This is what he sells in the United States this year, either maintaining or increasing his annual number.
