Between the cold and the debt left over from the December holidays comes the third Monday of January, also known as “Blue Monday” or “Blue Monday” And promises to be the saddest day of the year.
The concept of “Blue Monday” Thanks to psychologist Cliff Arnold in 2005, Who developed a mathematical formula to calculate it.
The formula uses qualitative factors including the idea that by the third Sunday in January, many people have not recovered from anything. financial, food or emotional excesses Which were given at the end of the year celebration.
It also states that by that date people have realized that it is possible that the resolutions that were set for the new year, too hard to reachR, because of deep sadness.
In addition, Monday is considered Worst day of the week.
The mathematical formula developed by Arnall is as follows:
(C+(Dd) 3/8xTI MxNA) = saddest day of the year
C = climate factor.
D = Credit earned during the holidays.
d = money that will be collected by the end of January.
t = elapsed time since December holidays
I = refers to the period since the last unsuccessful attempt to break a bad habit or start a new one
M = residual inspirations.
NA = Need to act to change lives
Arnall added that all of the above can lead to the appearance of certain depressive symptoms such as Lack of energy, fatigue and sadness.
However, the concept of “Blue Monday” is considered pseudoscientific Because it does not follow any recognized scientific method, it has been highly questioned in the scientific community.
Furthermore, the concept is known to be used by companies and advertising campaigns to make money, As was the case with an advertising campaign launched by a tourism agency which proposed that to counteract sadness, it was best to hire the services of a company.
