The Cessna 206 aircraft with the registration number HK2803 was covering the route between Arracuara and San José del Guaviare when it disappeared.
This afternoon of May 16, in the sky of Solano Municipality in Caquetá, a voice of a woman speaking in an indigenous language was heard. Expectations have run high since ground search crews found a baby bottle, a bitten wild passion fruit and a cabin of some sort, in which three people apparently had recently been, the crashed plane and the three adults inside. were very close to the body. ,
The same Tuesday morning the first announcement was made, that Aerocivil confirmed the discovery of the plane, which disappeared while flying between Caqueta and Guaviare, and the body of one of the passengers, previously believed to be the pilot. , “In the area, special forces are waiting for the arrival of legal medics and authorities to carry out the mutiny,” said Germán Camargo, director of operations for Meta’s civil protection.
Hours later, rescuers confirmed they had found two other bodies, identical to those of two adults, so from that moment the search focused on finding four children aged 13, 9 and 4, and an eleven-month-old boy. . Authorities believe the man is gone trying to make his way out of the woods.
“The conditions are difficult. It is a virgin forest, very dense and connected by the river Apaporis, so there are parts that become muddy and others that are difficult to walk on because of the large roots of the trees over 30 meters Add to that the weather, the storms, the heat and the animals in the jungle. It’s a tough terrain”, Camargo assures.
For this reason, the search is carried out not only by 25 members of the Civil Protection and more uniformed members of the Army and Navy, but also by three indigenous communities of the Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon who have contributed their knowledge. The area in search, which for Sergio Paris Mendoza, Director of Civil Aeronautics, it has been and will be fundamental to find the children alive.
The discovery of the aircraft also provided further clues about the incident. Paris assures that on the day of the disappearance, the pilot reported an engine failure, “The failure of this engine in this type of aircraft consists of two processes: the plantation, which allows to survive.” In view of this, the pilot indicated that he would choose the second option and that was to look for a river to land, “however, due to the location of the aircraft and the path of the aircraft, it is believed that he saw a possible location.” Planted trees and decided to turn, but the plane fell to the ground from the height of those trees.
