Barely 30 minutes were enough for the alternate number of Millionaires to settle the duel against Deportivo Cali in front of some 20,000 spectators, in a match corresponding to the seventh day of the BetPlay League, the first division of Colombian soccer.

With this Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores commitment, against Atlético Mineiro at the El Campín stadium, coach Alberto Gamero decided to reserve his main starters to face Cali from Jorge Luis Pinto.

Historic, Nicolas Echavarría won his first title on the PGA Tour.

Before the game, there was not much hope in Albiazul fans because the team was not playing well. A similar squad fell last week in the visit of Caldas and gala eleven yards on Thursday to beat the Ecuadorian Catholic University, for the Libertadores.

But the youth responded with the experience of Alvaro Montero, Juan Pablo Vargas, Daniel Giraldo and Juan Carlos Pereira. Six minutes into the game, the Millionaires got off to a bad start surrounded by defender Germán Mera and Jader Valentia scored the first goal with a shot from the edge of the area, impossible for goalkeeper Kevin Dawson.

Cali did not act and the millionaires continued to dominate the violent actions. Until the 27th hour, José Caldera committed a shameful foul on Jader Valencia in the area, which Juan Carlos Pereira exchanged for the goal. To their advantage, the Blues played more comfortably and devoted themselves to the event.

At the end the panorama does not change. The provincials handled the ball and the visitors barely came close to Alvaro Montero’s possession on two occasions. The third leg was closer to the Verdiblanco discount.

With the victory, the Millionaires reached nine points in four appearances, with three games to spare. On Wednesday they face Atlético Mineiro in the first leg of the third Libertadores and in the qualifiers they play against Atlético Nacional, certainly with a mixed lineup, because the title holder continues to the second leg in Brazil.

Cali, which is still not convinced, will receive Atletico Bucaramanga on Saturday with the need to correct its course, with only one win, three draws and two losses in six appearances.

The seventh day of the BetPlay League began on Friday night with a 1-0 victory over Caldas at home to Atlético Bucaramanga, with a penalty goal by David Lemos. On Saturday morning, Equidad drew 1-1 against Alianza Petrolera, in Bogotá. Jorge Ramos scored for the insurers and Steven Rodríguez equalized for the visitors.

Later, Envigado beat Independiente Santa Fe 3-2. Rubio España, Henry Mosquera and Juan Manuel Zapata scored for the Golden Eagles, while Julian Millán and Christian Marrugo scored for the Cardinals. Unión Magdalena tied 1-1 with Jaguares, in Santa Marta. The goal of the trucks was by Ricardo Márquez and the goal of the cats was by John Castellano. Medellín beat Águilas Doradas 3-0 thanks to goals from Miguel Monsalve, Diber Cambindo and Daniel Torres.
