Until the advent of artificial intelligence, designing a presentation for university or work meant spending a lot of time choosing the right topic and template. In many cases, we’ve actually dedicated more resources to this topic than to creating the content itself. Luckily, with this new feature, it’s easier than ever to minimize the time spent creating our template.
Can you imagine creating a PowerPoint presentation for your next professional or academic engagement in seconds? This is Microsoft’s proposal through Microsoft 365 through artificial intelligence. PowerPoint designer is the name of this functionality: a new tool that appears in the form of a button, without wanting to attract attention, but allowing us to automatically create slides in a matter of seconds.
One of its main features is the remarkable time saving it offers us when editing any type of template. We avoid having to spend our time searching for the numerous themes of the application itself by proposing designs that fully adapt to the information that we have offered to PowerPoint. In this way, from the first steps we obtain proposals that maintain the same coherence. And all this without having to spend more than a few moments on it.
Before discussing the function, it must be made clear that it is a Microsoft 365 feature and is only available to subscribers, i.e. users who pay a monthly or annual fee to access this product from the Redmond company. However, it is not ruled out that offline versions of the office suite will soon be available.
This is how PowerPoint Designer works
To use this new functionality we just have to open PowerPoinT and start working as usual. Write directly on the blank presentation. Once we have written the content, we must click on the “Designer” tab that we can find at the top of the application, as we can see in the following screenshot.
One of the peculiarities of this element is that not only does it offer us design suggestions on the first slide, but it is dedicated to replicating them in the following ones. But when we write new keywords, artificial intelligence itself offers us new recommendations that adapt to the content we write. The end result is a final presentation that maintains excellent coherence between the design and the information we offer our audience. Maintain the dynamic presentation until the last moment.
Much more than design
Although the help it offers us in terms of design is essential to save time, in reality the AI with which Microsoft has implemented this new functionality also offers us help in the form of a recommendation if it takes into account that we overload the slide too much with text or other elements.
Based on the decision we make based on their recommendations, whether to reconsider the content or not make any changes, the design will adapt while maintaining the balance we need at the visual level. We can’t find the templates offered to us in stock in the usual themes that appear by default in PowerPoint, so we don’t run the risk of our presentation being similar to another colleague’s. Avoiding a fairly classic risk that we can find, for example, in environments such as schools.
It is important to note that if we want to receive recommendations throughout the creation process of each slide, the PowerPoint Designer feature must be activated every time we click on “Create a new slide or duplicate it”. Otherwise, the layout will be taken from the last slide created.
