CRPF in preparation for SPG protection
Maheshwari said during this time that keeping in mind the increasing responsibility of VIP Security Wing, CRPF is trying to match the Special Protection Group (SPG) by continuously increasing its skills. The SPG is a separate agency that protects the Prime Minister. He said, “We have improved our skills of VIP security. We are following the best safety norms… We are trying to match the best standards of SPG. ”
CRPF provides security to 62 VIPs, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda, Congress Party chief Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Maheshwari said that the biggest threat to CRPF is from IED attacks. He said, “There are many tools for detecting IEDs, but none of them is such that it is absolutely accurate. This is an area for which all international organizations are working. ”
