Siena’s women’s basketball team finished ninth in the MAAC pre-season coach poll released Tuesday night.
It is here that the Saints, who replaced coach Ali Jacques in the offseason with Jim Jabir, finished last season in the standings. Siena finished 4-9 overall and 3-8 in the MAAC regular season during a season when the Saints played just 13 games due to concerns over the new coronavirus pandemic.
Quinnipjak finished first in the preseason poll, while Marist – the regular season and last season’s champion – came in fourth. Manhattan came in second and Fairfield came in third, and each of the top four teams in the poll received at least one vote for first place.
Lou Lopez-Seneschal of Fairfield was named the league’s preseason player of the year. Lopez-Seneschal in the preseason first team was joined by Mikala Morris and Mackenzie DeVies of Quinnipiac, Courtney Worley of Manhattan and Angel Parker of Niagara.
Siena’s only preseason pick was Reychel Brown, who was selected as the third team.
